Alchemy: Goldsmiths Scotland is a new fair of contemporary jewellery and silver in Scotland. Taking place at Edinburgh’s City Art Centre from 15-18 April 2027, the event brings together 50 of the most exceptional contemporary jewellers and silversmiths from Scotland and the wider UK for a four-day selling fair, exhibition and cultural programme. Celebrating excellence in craft, Alchemy blends a world-class showcase with a vibrant programme of interactive learning, public events, and professional development.
Bryony Knox
Director & Chair
Bryony Knox is an Edinburgh-based silversmith, creating sculptural yet functional silverware with a twist. Having been in business for 25 years, Bryony has exhibited at Elements: Goldsmiths’ Fair and Collect many times and has works in private & public collections, including Museum of Edinburgh, HRH Princess Anne. In 2019 she took part in BBC’s ‘Victorian House of Arts & Crafts’ where she further explored these metal skills and other techniques whilst living as a Victorian silversmith and blacksmith for a month.

Dr Elizabeth Goring
Director
Dr Elizabeth Goring is an independent curator, writer and lecturer specialising in contemporary jewellery and metalwork. Formerly a Principal Curator at National Museums Scotland, she developed and curated the national collection of Modern Jewellery for over 20 years.
She has worked closely with many organisations and individuals in the UK and internationally, including the Art Jewellery Forum, Craft Scotland and many more.

Sarah Hutchison
Director
Sarah Hutchison is an award-winning silversmith and jewellery designer. She has undertaken significant commissions in her career, including a diamond studded teapot for Sharleen Spitteri as part of ‘Silver of the Stars’ for the Incorporation of Goldsmiths
She has worked closely with many organisations and individuals in the UK and internationally. Sarah has run her contemporary jewellery gallery, SH Jewellery, in Morningside for 15 years.
Eda Obermanns
Event Manager
Eda Obermanns is a digital communications and marketing specialist based in Edinburgh. With a strong focus on Scottish craft, heritage, and contemporary making, she is passionate about supporting the jewellery and silversmithing sector in Scotland. She has worked closely with makers and organisations through a range of educational, cultural, and exhibition-led initiatives.
