Applications for Alchemy: Goldsmiths Scotland open 3 August 2026.

Alchemy will take place from 15-18 April 2027 at Edinburgh's City Art Centre. Applications for Alchemy close on Monday, 5 October 2026 at 11:59pm. If you have any questions, please contact the Event Manager, Eda Obermanns, via e-mail (alchemyscotland@gmail.com).

SELECTION PROCESS

Up to 50 makers will be selected for Alchemy. Exhibitors will be chosen by a selection panel, including representatives from Alchemy: Goldsmiths Edinburgh CIC. 

The panel will look for:

  • Excellence in design and manufacture

  • Quality of craftsmanship

  • Cohesion in the collection of work presented

  • Originality of design

The panel will consider a range of styles and prices across the final selection of exhibitors.

Please note that we will not accept applications for joint or shared stands.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible to exhibit and sell at Alchemy, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently live and work in the UK;

  • Be able to represent yourself and sell your own work. You cannot act as an agent for others.

WHAT CAN I EXHIBIT & SELL?

A range of work, materials and styles are welcomed, but all work exhibited and sold at Alchemy must:

  • Be made of precious metals, although other metals can be included*;

  • Be compliant with the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and any other relevant legislation;

  • Be either handmade or made through small-scale batch production;

  • Be compliant with the current restrictions regarding CITES and materials that require licenses or are prohibited.

 

* Each piece must include an element of precious metal, such as chains or findings, but we welcome a range of materials alongside this.

Applicants will be informed of outcomes by Monday, 5 October 2026.
